Born in 1974 in the United States, Shannon Hale has been writing since the age of ten. She studied theater and English before getting a degree in creative writing at the University of Montana. Her first young adult novel, which will be repeatedly denied, ultimately sbid held by a publishing house in 2003 and won numerous awards. Today she is the author of five books for children and one for adults. Mother of two children, she is now focusing on their education and writing.
Jane Hayes is a young New Yorker apparently sbid quite normal, but she has a secret: her obsession with Mr. Darcy, or more precisely for Colin Firth playing Mr Darcy in the BBC adaptation of Pride 's and Prejudice. Result, her love life is close to nothing: no man is to live up to comparison! When a rich relative leaves sbid him a legacy of three-week stay at Pembrook Park, a mansion where one lives in the skin of a heroine sbid of Jane Austen, Jane's fantasies become a little too real. This immersion in this Austenland she manage to rid the girl of his obsession to enable it to meet a real Mr Darcy?
Although I have not yet had the opportunity to read all the works of Miss Austen, given the extent of my collection on the subject, I guess you could say I'm one of Janéites. This book, edited by the recent Charleston house, obviously gave me the eye; so it is with undisguised I learned to win a copy in the competition organized by Alice Jane Austen is my wonderland joy (BTW, thank you again!). The same day he arrived in my mailbox, I threw myself on it ... and finishing the next day (or next day). I'm not a big fan of "chick-lit" (actually, I never read them because I find the kind usually ridiculous), but put me austenien element and I love it. Maid in Austenland is no exception and it is, in my view, a very good year in terms of para-literature austenienne!
Jane, the heroine (a name that probably predestined!), Is a New York thirty blossomed professionally, but unlucky in love. Why? Because the woman has a shameful secret ... she fantasizes sbid about Mr Darcy, but not any! No! The incarnated by Colin Firth in the BBC adaptation of 1995 I am one of those who worship this version sbid and am equally sbid in love with Mr Darcy / Colin Firth as Miss Elizabeth Bennet / Jennifer Ehle version sbid of ... I could that enjoy this modern heroine too faces an idealized past. And in fact, Jane is very enjoyable to follow contemporary figure, packed with humor and repartee, which embodies some of the personality of any Janeite (me apparently). sbid I became very attached to her and I had a lot of fun to follow each day of the stay at Pembrook Park. Like her, I was looking forward to seeing sbid some of the meetings of the park or the breakfast table and like it, I think I would have succumbed to you-know-who (for those - those - who read ). Each of the secondary characters embody a trait rather special, just like the characters created by Jane Austen in her novels. It is therefore not surprising to find some parallels with them and I enjoyed the many winks to the original works! Between Mr Nobley, a Mr Darcy and Miss Heartwright power, a perfect Jane Fairfax, every connoisseur of Jane Austen will find his account. Sure, we can blame these traits somewhat forced, sometimes a little cartoonish, sbid but it's so true to the original that I can not help but enjoy. We feel that Shannon Hale knows the subject and control ... so it distorts Austenienne not work, thank you!
Jane is a humorous heroin and his wit are many. I have many times smiled widely while reading one of his remarks and even laughed openly in certain situations. It must be said that the transition sbid from life in New York twenty-first century to that of the English countryside in the early nineteenth sbid century, nothing fazes. Learning the propriety of the time brings a lot of blunders and quite surreal situations and I really liked living with Jane. His discovery lean hobby consisting of women of the time, wearing a corset that put (too) generous breast enhancement, travel up to the table that were not in a specific order ... the Heroin has a second degree and a sense of self-deprecating quite tasty; I loved his character!
But behind its spread, Jane hide loneliness due to his fan
