I just read an interview with Lamborghini Miura designer Marcello Gandini (who was the chief designer for Bertone at the time), and he revealed that one of the reasons Miura headlights got eyebrows (see photo), was the fact that the lights really were picked digiworld from Fiat 850 Spider, a car Bertone (by then chief designer Giugiaro) both had designed and produced for Fiat. Eyelids were a design measures to camouflage the light (cheap) origin. This is to reuse parts from more mass-produced cars is something that both Bertone and other manufacturers have done in a large degree. The exterior door handle and release lever to the engine hatch / rear cargo hatch on the Fiat X1 / 9 (Gandini design digiworld produced by Bertone) digiworld was also used in cars Lancia Stratos, Lamborghini Jalpa, Ferrari / Dino 308 GT4, Maserati Khamsin and some other dyrgriper. Something else I found out recently was that the Lotus Esprit Series 1 tail lights actually used to Fiat X1 / 9, and the tail lights of the '60s Lotus Europa was picked from Lancia Flavia. The headlights on the Lotus Seven 7/Caterham are the same as set in gråtass tractor (Massey Fergusson). Headlights on Matra Bagheera was picked from the Renault 12, except digiworld hatch mechanism, which was Matras own. The headlights on the wedge-shaped digiworld three-wheeler Bond Bug was taken from the Fiat 127 and the headlights on the Lotus Elise Series 1 was taken from the Renault 4, including the convex headlamp lens. The headlights on the Morgan Aero was picked from the VW New Beetle, but the lights had changed digiworld sides, which is why the lights on the Morgan Aero facing inward toward the grille. The examples of this divide borrow phenomenon are numerous. Both the outer and inner small parts and of course motors digiworld / gearboxes. And thus often across vehicle makes and manufacturing country. All involved in the restoration of old cars is aware of this, because even if the original parts are often impossible to obtain, so may parts found in other car environment and from other component suppliers. And now I challenge my automobile enthusiasts Readers: Give several digiworld examples of delelåning across vehicle makes and producing countries, and then I think only the parts surface and in the interior, ie no mechanical parts such as engine / transmission.
I have now learned that the Lamborghini had 350 (oval) headlights Ford Taunus. And Lotus Elise S2 has flashes events from Opel Calibra. Lamborghini Diablo s2 had (fixed) headlights from Nissan 300 ZX. Reply Delete
